After holding a number of open houses throughout Solterra, I have noticed an interesting trend in my conversations with both homeowners and buyers.
More people are starting to talk about downsizing.
Not every smaller home is necessarily the right downsizing home.
One important consideration is stairs. Solterra’s townhomes are two and three story designs, and they do not offer a main floor primary bedroom. For buyers who are thinking about long term accessibility or simply prefer main level living, that can be an important consideration.
That is why I like looking beyond just the townhomes when helping someone downsize within Solterra.
The Remington patio homes can be an excellent option. There are two different Remington series in Solterra. The 600 Series offers the smaller floor plans, while the 900 Series offers larger homes for buyers who want to downsize without giving up quite as much space.
There are also Brookfield single family homes in Solterra that offer main floor primary suites. These homes can provide an appealing combination of main level living, a more manageable footprint and the privacy of a detached single family home.
For someone planning ahead for the next five, ten or twenty years, a main floor primary suite can be especially valuable. You may be perfectly comfortable with stairs today, but having your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and main living spaces all on one level gives you flexibility for the future.
The important point is that downsizing in Solterra does not have to mean moving into a townhome. Depending on your priorities, there are different options:
- Remington patio homes can be a great choice for buyers looking for a lower maintenance lifestyle. These homes have an additional HOA that provides services such as lawn maintenance and snow removal. The 600 Series offers smaller homes, while the 900 Series provides more space for buyers who are not quite ready to downsize as dramatically.
- Cardel and Brookfield townhomes can be an excellent option for buyers who are comfortable with multilevel living and want a smaller, easier to manage footprint. They can also make terrific lock and leave properties for homeowners who travel frequently or spend part of the year somewhere else.
- Brookfield single family homes with main floor primary suites can be particularly attractive for buyers who want main level living while retaining the privacy and feel of a detached home.
If you are considering downsizing but would love to remain in Solterra, I would be happy to help you explore the different options within the neighborhood.
And if you currently own a Remington patio home, Cardel or Brookfield townhome, or a Brookfield home with a main floor primary suite and have been thinking about selling, I would like to hear from you as well. I am regularly talking with Solterra homeowners and buyers who are looking for exactly these types of properties.
Sometimes the right downsizing opportunity starts with a conversation long before a home ever reaches the market.
